What should you look for in a 5-star family holiday?
A five-star rating is a useful starting point, but it doesn’t tell you everything about how suitable a resort will be for your family. These are some of the details I consider when putting together a holiday proposal.
Room configuration
Will everyone have enough space? Are interconnecting rooms guaranteed or only requested? Does the room arrangement suit the ages of your children? These details are worth checking carefully.
Children’s facilities
Kids’ clubs can vary by age group, operating hours and available activities. I’ll help you establish whether a resort’s facilities suit your children rather than simply relying on the hotel description.
Pools, beaches and waterparks
Some families want water slides and entertainment throughout the day. Others prefer quieter pools and easy beach access. Neither is better — it’s about choosing what suits you.
Dining and All Inclusive
Not every all-inclusive package offers the same experience. Restaurant booking rules, à la carte inclusions, snacks and drinks can differ between hotels.
Resort location
Some luxury resorts are designed for spending most of your time on site. Others are close to towns, beaches and local restaurants. I’ll help you consider which setting suits your plans.

I’m Gareth, an Independent Personal Travel Consultant based in Solihull, helping families across the UK.
When you come to me, I don’t start by assuming that the most expensive hotel is automatically the best choice. I start by understanding your family.
What did you love about previous holidays? What would you change? Do you want a lively resort or somewhere more peaceful? How important are flight times, room arrangements and the journey to your hotel?
From there, I’ll research suitable options and explain the differences, including where I believe spending more genuinely improves the experience — and where it might not.
You’ll receive a considered holiday proposal, honest recommendations and personal support throughout the booking process and beyond. At present, I don’t charge a separate fee for my services.
My job isn’t to sell you the most expensive holiday. It’s to help you choose the right one.
